Ruth Roman was born on June 22, 1939 at Lynn Massachusetts. The actress is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. When her father passed away as a Carnival barker as a little girl She was required to keep the family going by working as a cook and server. Ruth went to school and grew up in poverty within Boston Massachusetts in the tenement district. The school she was attending within two years of her education to pursue acting as a profession. Her journey was not without obstacles. the path she chose to pursue. When she was in New York she was hired to pose for photos for a publication about crime however, no theatre jobs were forthcoming. The next position she was offered was an "hat check" girl for a nightclub before she gave up and returned to Boston. There she was able to earn a living in the ushering industry during the day, and at night performed with the New England Repertory Company. It was her first role as an actor. Her studies in drama led her to receive a degree in the Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
